World Music Day, also known as Fête de la Musique, is an annual celebration held on June 21st, bringing together musicians and music lovers from all over the world. Originating in France in 1982, this global event promotes the joy of music across cultures, genres, and generations. On this day, streets, parks, and concert halls come alive with performances, uniting people through the universal language of music. Whether through classical symphonies, folk melodies, jazz improvisations, or modern beats, World Music Day encourages both amateur and professional musicians to share their passion, fostering creativity and cultural exchange. It is a tribute to the power of music in connecting hearts and enriching lives.

🎶 Contest Overview 🎶

Music is a universal language that unites us all! To celebrate World Music Day, SOUL proudly presents the Interschool Music Championship, where young talents from various schools come together to compete, perform, and connect through the power of music.

This exciting competition provides students with a professional stage, expert judges, and an audience that truly appreciates their passion for music. Schools are invited to nominate their best performers across multiple categories, giving students a chance to showcase their artistry and represent their institutions with pride.

Competition Categories:

🎤 Vocal Performance (Solo & Group) – Classical, Contemporary, Folk, and Fusion
🎸 Band Performance (band of 3 to 7) – Classical, Contemporary, Folk, and Fusion

🎼 Ghazal (Solo ) - The choice of instruments is open

🎼 Qawwali  (Group ) - The choice of instruments is open

🎶 Generes – The contests will be separately held for eastern (Indian & Pakistani Music) & western music for Solo Vocal & Band Performance

Who Can Participate?

  • Open to students aged 5 and above from registered schools.
  • Schools may enter multiple participants across different categories.
  • 📅 Event Details:

    📍 Venue: PNCA
    🕘 Time: [1800 - 2100 hrs]
    🎟️ Entry: The entry fee will be announced when registration opens. Winning contestants will have their entry fee refunded in addition to receiving their prize.

    📜 Contest Rules

    1. The Contest is open to the students of all Schools of Rawalpindi & Islamabad
    2. The contestants, in each category, will be nominated by the School through a letter to the President & Dean of Arts, School of Universal Languages, Islamabad.
    3. All contestants will register online with deposit of entry fee, they will have to present a nomination certificate from their respective schools before the contest.
    4. A school can send as many nominations as it desires.
    5. There will be four categories of performances:
    6. The contestant(s) will be allowed 3 to 5 minutes of on stage performance
    1. The performances will be judged on following criteria

      a.      Musical Skill & Technique (40%)

      b.      Expression & Stage Performance (20%)

      c.      Engagement of the audience (20%)

      d.      Judges Choice (10%)

      e.      Vote of the audience (10%)

      3.      The registration opens on June 1st every year

      4.      Entry Fee will be announce before the commencement of registration for the contest.

      5.      The top 3 positions will get trophy and cash rewads.

      6.      All contestant will be awarded certificate of participation.

      7.      The points will be awarded to the contestants as per their position (i.e the first position gets 1 point, second 2 points an so on)

      8.      The schools with least total points will be declared champion school for the year

      9.      The school trophy will be lifted by the head of the school or his/her nominee.
